Slack

Files.com offers a Folder Setting that will post notifications to Slack when actions occur in certain folders in your Files.com account. In order for your site to post to Slack on your behalf, you need to create an incoming webhook in your Slack configuration.

You must first configure an incoming webhook in your Slack workspace for Files.com to send messages. Create a new Slack app in the workspace where you want to post messages, then add Incoming Webhooks to your Slack Workspace. Choose a channel where your incoming webhook will post messages to. Copy the generated webhook URL to use in your Files.com Slack Integration.

Once you have created an incoming webhook URL in your Slack workspace, you can complete the setup in your Files.com site.

Within your site, type "Slack Webhooks" in the search box at the top of every page and select the matching result. Choose Add new Slack notification, and paste the Webhook URL generated in the prior steps in the Slack Notification URL section. You can save your new Slack Notification and begin using it, or you can customize the behavior with optional settings.

Slack notifications include optional settings for controlling the appearance of the resulting Slack messages. The Username to display setting contains the Slack username you'd like the messages to appear as. The Channel setting changes where alerts will be sent to; if you leave this option blank, messages will go to the channel that was specified during the initial web hook URL creation. The Emoji Icon setting lets you choose an emoji to be used as the icon for the alert in Slack. You can leave all of these display customization options blank and rely on the incoming webhook settings you configured.

The Limit to a specific folder setting can restrict which files will trigger the alerts. If you leave this setting blank, activity in all your folders will be used for the Slack notification. Activity in folders on Remote Server Mounts is never included; if you have a mounted folder within the folder you've set up for your Slack notification, activity in that mounted folder will not trigger the messages.

The Which file actions trigger this notification? setting can be used to limit what types of activity will generate alerts. By default, All file actions is selected, and messages will be sent regardless of the type of file activity. Only specific file actions allows you to choose which types of activities generate messages. You can choose any combination of Create, Read, Update, Delete, Move or Copy.
